The masia

Located in the heart of Empordà, El Ginebró is a masia (traditional Catalan farmhouse) originally built in 1708 and fully restored in 2005. With more than 1,600 m² of buildings set on a 6-hectare property, it’s just 15 minutes from the beaches of Empúries, the Medes Islands and Girona. It’s an ideal base to explore the region.
Farm school, rural accommodation, and restaurant—all in one space where the best part to discover is who you’re sharing it with.

Our Donkeys

At Ginebró, we don’t just cook good food—we also share the space with three very special residents: our Catalan donkeys.
Calm, curious, and full of character, they’re like good travel companions.
Their names are Roc, Bruna, and Llampèc, and they are part of our commitment to local heritage and biodiversity.
In addition to providing company, they naturally help maintain the land and remind us of the wisdom of the old farmers.
Come say hello—but gently: like good donkeys, they like to take their time… But if you look at them with love, they might just bray back at you!

Vilopriu

Vilopriu is the main village in a municipality that includes Gaüses, Pins and Valldavià. Located between the Ter and Fluvià rivers, it sits on the hill between the two.
The village of La Tossa, built around the castle and the church, features narrow streets and houses from the 16th to 18th centuries, creating a beautiful architectural setting.
The parish church of Sant Pere is inside the castle-palace enclosure, with origins in the 12th century and later Gothic-style renovations in the 14th–15th centuries.

Nearest train station: Camallera (just 4 km from the masia).

You can walk here in just over 30 minutes, and to make it easier, we offer
luggage transfer. A comfortable and sustainable way to arrive!

Descoberta is a company dedicated to the creation, management, organization, coordination, production, and training of services related to culture, education, leisure, tourism, and sports. Founded in 2010 by a team of professionals from these fields, it shares a common spirit based on a passion for personal and community growth. Among the services offered, the management of various residential activity centers stands out, including Cal Mata (Fundació Marta Mata), Can Foix, and La Torre de Begues. It also provides activity leaders for other venues, such as the coastal school Mas d’en Pedro, Can Pere, and Sant Ramon de Penyafort. Descoberta stands out for its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, endorsed by several environmental certificates and recently recognized with the prestigious European award “Star Awards Europarc 2024” for its outstanding contribution to the community. Descoberta’s most recent project is El Ginebró, launched in 2025. This new venture is born from the experience gained in managing other residential centers and the desire to create a unique initiative in an exceptional natural setting, with facilities designed to offer an unbeatable experience.
